Has anyone tried something like this on an older front step? Mine is still solid, but one corner has chipped away and makes the whole entrance look worse than it really is.

That's similar to mine. I removed the loose concrete and cleaned the damaged section first. If the rest of the step is still stable, repairing the chipped area can make more sense than immediately replacing everything.

I wish I'd looked into repairing mine sooner. The damaged edge kept bothering me, but replacing the entire step seemed excessive when most of the concrete was still in good condition.

The compact tub is what interests me. I only have two small chipped areas on the porch steps, so buying a large bag of patching material for such a small job never made much sense.
